Negativity cuts off the flow of trust and positive energy in our lives.
It constricts our thinking. It saps enthusiasm. And this can have a paralyzing effect.
We can never eliminate negativity, stress, and fear. But the way we can successfully overcome them is by making our positivity bigger than our negativity.
The good news is this antidote is free and only a few thoughts away.
Jon Gordon writes and speaks about the power of positivity in business and life and every year he shares his 21 Tips for a Positive New Year. (The first quarter’s almost over, but I thought I’d share them anyway.) Here are my favorites:
Stay positive. Make the choice, that’s the first step. You can listen to the cynics or you can trust in faith and optimism and that all things are possible.
Take a daily “Thank You Walk.” You can’t be stressed and thankful at the same time. Feel blessed and you won’t be stressed.
Look for opportunities to Love, Serve and Care. You don’t have to be great to serve but you have to serve to be great.
No energy vampires allowed. Gandhi said, “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet,” and neither should you.
No complaining rule. Complaining wastes time and energy that could be spent on finding a solution.
Be a positive team member. It makes you and everyone around you better.
Remember, there’s no such thing as an overnight success. Love the process and you’ll love what the process produces.
Keep going. The next time you “fail” remember that it’s not meant to define you. It’s meant to refine you.
Smile and laugh more. They both lift the spirit naturally and energize us.
Any time of the year is a good time for a fresh start and the focused pursuit of the success we all desire. But we’ve got to keep negativity at bay, and let positivity show us the way.
You can download Gordon’s complete list of 21 Tips here if you’d like to print them and post them for yourself.
Have a great week.
