Brain science is a complex field of study – it’s estimated our brains make as many as 10 quadrillion calculations per second. Heady stuff!
Most of this processing power occurs in the background, but perhaps the most fascinating part – and the simplest part – is that almost all of the calculations our brains make are for two primary needs:
1. Safety; and
2. Connection (emotional, community, etc.)
Clearly, this is a valuable insight for marketers. It’s also an easy litmus test to apply to our words, messages, images, and offers. Are you allowing prospects to connect with others (your clients) so they can fit in and feel more comfortable? Are you helping your prospects make safer decisions by providing useful information that educates, lowers risk, and increases success rates?
Food for thought: the social media tools available today are perfectly designed for connecting – but they’re only effective if you have the educational and humanizing content to provide for safe and emotionally-connected interactions and decisions.
