This is why I like this simple productivity method so much and have adopted it in my own daily routine.
Email can feel like a tsunami sometimes, but this one email will really stand out because it’s the one you send yourself.
Here’s how it works: At the beginning of each day, send yourself an email with your to-do list for the day. Then, set it to snooze and resend at the end of the day so that it arrives at the top of your inbox as you’re wrapping things up. This allows you to articulate what you want to get done, and then evaluate your progress.
Here’s why it works:
- Writing things down helps you think more carefully about what’s important, plus it’s not paper so it’s on your desktop and phone and available no matter where you go.
- Knowing you’ll be reminded of your list at the end of the day makes you more likely to get it done.
- It’s a record of what you got accomplished.
And if things keep showing up on your list or you’re not getting as much done as you want, it prompts questions about your goals and activities – and how to improve your outcomes.
Have a great week.
