Today, there will be lots of extra hugging going on as we celebrate Father’s Day around the country.
Millions of hugs – representing love, appreciation and gratitude – will be exchanged among fathers, families and friends.
As we all know, some people love hugging, some actively avoid it, and others simply tolerate it.
There’s no question where Roy Spence stands on the subject. He’s a hugger and he’s proud of it.
In his book “The 10 Essential Hugs of Life” Spence shares the inspiring lessons he has learned from practicing what his dad taught him – anyone worth meeting is worth hugging. Spence maintains that hugging adds more joy to the lives of those we touch, as well as our own.
And the practice of hugging can be applied to many other life lessons. Here are Spence’s 10 Essential Hugs:
- Hug Yourself First.
- Hug Your Faith.
- Hug Your Family.
- Hug Your Friends.
- Hug Your Flag.
- Hug Your Failures.
- Hug Your Fears.
- Hug Your Future.
- Hug Your Firsts.
- Hug Your Finals.
Hugging heals. Hugging gives hope. Hugging helps others, and it also helps ourselves.
Happy Father’s Day to all the families celebrating and remembering dads today.
Have a great week.
