Entrepreneurs are reluctant to get away for vacation for a variety of reasons – lack of time, lack of money, and a general lack of interest in a vacation are but a few of the most common excuses.
Maybe so, but not getting away once in a while is bad for your health and your business. There’s lots of data you can read more about here, or you can see the handy highlights I’ve compiled below.
Vacation is good for you and your business because:
- Your spouse and kids, relatives, and friends actually like seeing you (and you like seeing them, too, once you get there.)
- You lower your risk of death from all causes.
- You have more “a-ha” moments about your business – they occur more often during times of mental relaxation.
- Your partners and employees get a break as well while you’re out so they’re happier, too.
Longer is better, but a mini-vacation can also do the trick. So if a week at your favorite beach (Gulf Shores), Colorado mountain retreat (Vail) or fishing hole (Table Rock Lake) just aren’t in the cards, a few hours on the deck at Blue Grotto in Brookside can also do wonders for your point of view.
