Worth a thousand words – The Sunday Snippet [4.8.12]

A great photo is the first thing that catches a reader’s eye when someone reads a newspaper or magazine. In fact, we often decide whether or not to read an article based solely on the photo. Photos are critical for good storytelling and really are worth a thousand words.

Now that we’re all carrying cameras (smartphones) around in our pockets, it’s never been easier to snap the photos you need for your blog, website, presentation, or stories.  Don’t worry about your skills – just take a bunch, and from different vantage points, and you’ll be sure to get at least one you can use.

For photographic storytelling at it’s finest, check out the work of Todd Selby. Selby is a portrait, interiors, and fashion photographer and illustrator. His project The Selby offers an insider’s view of creative individuals in their personal spaces with an artist’s eye for detail.

Selby’s photo essay of Kansas City’s own Kate Spade and her husband, Andy, in their New York apartment is a fascinating glimpse inside their world. Click on the photo below to see the rest of the photos of Kate and Andy at home on Park Ave.
